Description
RELEASE DATE: March 20, 2023
DURATION: 3 hours 30 MINUTES
As you may know, the California Privacy Protection Agency recently released new regulations to implement the California Privacy Rights Act (“CPRA”). In this program, attorney Dan Loritz of Okun Loritz, LLP, who is also a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), discusses the new regulations and explains:
- Whether and to what extent the CCPA/CPRA applies to financial institutions (spoiler alert: it does!);
- California residents’ rights to know the information collected about them, the right to correct that information, the right to request that information be deleted, and the rights to opt-out and to limit the use of sensitive personal information;
- The disclosures and notices that your Credit Union should have in place, including a specific CCPA/CPRA Privacy Policy, a Notice at or Before Collection, and whether you are required to offer consumers the right to opt-out or limit, and how to process such requests;
- The significant change to contractual provisions that credit unions subject to the new laws must implement for new and existing contracts with service providers;
- The penalties that can be imposed on financial institutions that fail to comply;
- And more!
If your Credit Union has gross revenues of $25 million or more, you simply can’t afford to miss this program!
